Why Natural Deodorant
At Indigo we’re all about small changes that make big impacts on your health and one of the easiest changes you can make to protect your health is switching to a natural deodorant. There are three endocrine disruptors typically found in conventional deodorants (parabens, triclosan, and phthalates) that can seriously affect your hormones by stimulating estrogen production which can lead to breast cancer, lower female reproductivity, lower sperm count, and basically really mess with your hormones. (Guys, these natural deodorants are not just for the ladies!)

Another big bad guy active ingredient in conventional deodorant is aluminum, which studies have show to be linked to breast cancer, Alzheimers, and liver damage. Aluminum swells the pores to prevent sweat (toxins) from coming out of your pits. FYI - sweating is a healthy and necessary bodily function that helps your system eliminate toxins. When switching to the natural stuff, it can take a few weeks to adjust and feel confident in natural deodorant. All those clogged pores are full of old stinky toxins that are suddenly free to be released! It can take a week or two to feel okay raising your arms without wanting to faint. Now is a great time of year to switch over, when we aren’t wearing bulky sweaters as much, and it’s not 80 degrees yet!

There are lots of natural deodorants out there now to choose from. Shout out to some of our favorites that we use here at Indigo - Agent Nateur and Native. Whatever you choose, make sure to read the label and get curious about what you’re putting on the biggest organ of your body - the skin!
